Loaded Turkey Sandwich – Keeping On Point

-

This sandwich is filled with turkey, cheese, fries, tomato, and coleslaw.

It’s filling and delicious!

Primanti Brothers was my inspiration for this sandwich. If you’ve ever eaten there you know how good it is.

The first time I had Primanti Brothers was at the original one in Pittsburgh’s Strip District.

Soon after, they had two locations in Michigan but closed back in 2023. So if I’m craving one of their sandwiches I have to make my own.

I made some adjustments based on my personal preferences. I hope you try it and love it!

The Ingredients

Bread: Using a low point bread is what helps to save a lot of points. I prefer Aunt Millie’s Live Carb Smart White Bread. Two slices is only 2 points.

Turkey: I didn’t want to use plain turkey for this recipe so I bought Boar’s Head cracked pepper turkey. It’s by far my favorite lunch meat.

It’s full of flavor but still zero points. Feel free to load up on it.

Cheese: I like using Sargento ultra thin provolone cheese. It’s only 2 points for one slice. You can also get provolone cheese from the deli and ask for it to be sliced extra thin.

French Fries: I used frozen crispy fast food French fries. I only used 7 which was 1 point.

Coleslaw: I used this coleslaw recipe. It’s lightened up and a great addition to the sandwich. Primanti Brothers uses more of a vinegar based coleslaw but I prefer adding some creaminess to the sandwich.

Tomato: This sandwich wouldn’t be complete without a slice of juicy tomato.

How to Make a Loaded Tukey Sandwich

If you’re making your own coleslaw start by getting that ready.

You can bake or air fry the French fries. I prefer the air fryer because it takes less time and the fries come out really crispy.

I used 3 ounces of turkey for my sandwich but you can use as much as you want since it’s zero points. It’s full of protein and will help keep you full.

Assemble the sandwich by adding the turkey, cheese, fries, tomato, and coleslaw to the bread.

It’s really that easy!

Serving Suggestions

Since the sandwich has fries on it I tend to serve it with something light.

Baby carrots and celery sticks are a great option.

A bowl of fruit is also a good zero point option.

You could also serve it with some additional coleslaw.
