Lettuce Wrap Cheeseburger with Baked Potato (Ten Dollar Meal)

-

This is another $10 meal idea!

If you’re on a budget but still trying to eat healthy, you will want to make this.

I’m going to break everything down so you know exactly what I bought and how much it costs.

If you’re looking for more $10 meals you can go here. Most of the meals will feed 4 people.

The Ingredients

Ground beef: Like everything else ground beef has become expensive. Especially the lean ground beef.

This week Kroger had 90% lean ground beef on sale. It was only $6 for one pound.

When I’m not being as budget conscience I tend to buy leaner beef. This was the leanest I could find to make it a $10 meal.

Lettuce: I decided to make my cheeseburger a lettuce wrap. One head of lettuce was $1.99. It’s actually the same price as buns, but since I was making a baked potato I wanted the cheeseburger to be lower in carbs.

Cheese: Instead of buying a whole pack of sliced cheese, I went to the deli and got it by the slice.

I bought Boar’s Head cheddar cheese, which was $10.99 per pound. I asked for two slices to be cut very thin. That helped to save money and calories.

It was only $.67 for two slices of cheese.

Tomato: I wanted some type of topping for the cheeseburger so I bought one roma tomato. I paid $.22 for it.

Potato: I bought a 12 ounce russet potato for $.69. I made a baked potato for the side and cut it in half to feed two people. If you want to feed four people total you can buy a second potato. The total will be a little over $10.

All together I spent $9.57.

The “pantry staples” I didn’t include were condiments and seasonings. I figure most people will have ketchup or mustard. If you don’t that’s ok, it’s still a good burger!

I seasoned my burgers with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and a splash of worcestershire sauce.

A 12 oz. russet potato is 7 points. Since I split it in half it was 4 points per serving. Click here to track the points of the baked potato.

How to Make Lettuce Wrap Cheeseburgers

The baked potato takes the longest to make so I started with that. I cleaned it and pierced it with a fork.

I baked my potato in the air fryer since it takes less time than the oven. I cooked it at 400 degrees for 40 minutes.

Next up was the ground beef. I only used 1/2 pound of the beef since I was making two cheeseburgers.

Each burger was 1/4 pound. I rolled each one into a ball then smashed it. I seasoned them with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and a splash of Worcestershire sauce.

I used a grill pan to cook the burgers. I like mine to be cooked medium so I cooked them 5 minutes on each side.

The last time I flipped the burger I added the cheese slices and covered the pan so it would melt.

I placed each cheeseburger on one of the lettuce leaves. I topped it with tomato, mustard, and then added another lettuce leaf.

Serve each cheeseburger wrap with 1/2 of the baked potato.
